News From Angelina the leukemia positive cat in her new home

Happy in her new home

News From Mazda...adopted by our volunteer Bea

I just wanted to share Mazda sleeping in her cat tree next to the Christmas Tree. Even thought this is not her first Christmas, (that was spent in a cage at Pet Smart last year), we are calling this her first real Christmas with her family.

She is the love our lives and keeps us all young, me and the 3 other cats. She sleeps with her 2 sisters and 1 brother every night on my bed with me. She is so full of life and lots of fun, and loves to eat and loves her treats and her toys.

She is just a joy and we are so glad to have her with us here in our home this Christmas and every Christmas to come. We love her so. Bea Gobee, Ladee Elizabeth, Remington and Bashful and oh yes, Mazda

Holiday Dangers!

The biggest hazards to pets on Thanksgiving include:

  • Rich, fatty foods (turkey skins, gravy, etc,) can contribute to pancreatitis. This gland inflammation is painful and can be serious-requiring emergency veterinary assistance.
  • Cooked bones can splinter and cause tears or obstruction in a pet's digestive tract.
  • Baking strings, if ingested, can create trouble if ingested by your pet.
  • Onions in holiday stuffing can lead to canine anemia if consumed by your dog.
  • Grapes and raisin toxins can cause kidney failure in pets.
  • Ingesting chocolate can cause seizures or kill your pet.
  • Caffeine and alcohol are also toxic for pets.

The solution? Keep all goodies out of reach! Preventative safety measures are the best strategies so store leftover food out of reach and in tightly closed containers. Next, make sure garbage cans are secured to keep critters out so they are safe from e-coli and unable to chew on leftover tinfoil.
